Patient Process

Regardless of treatment type, every patient's journey begins with these 3 general steps before making a decision to undergo laser eye surgery.

1.                Evaluate the reasons why you should have laser eye surgery.

Many patients have said they heard about LASIK Eye Surgery through a friend.  Others may have heard about it from their optometrist, their family doctor, a newspaper story, or through other advertising by centers/clinics offering this procedure.

While there are many reasons why people pursue LASIK Eye Surgery the most common reasons are:

  • Independence from glasses and contacts.
  • To enjoy sports such as swimming, skiing, scuba diving or golf without wearing glasses or contact lenses
  • To save money on the cost of lenses, solutions and glasses.
  • To avoid the negative consequences of long term contact lens wear
  • To achieve a confidence boost.
  • To save time - on cleaning, soaking, and otherwise maintaining contact lenses.
  • To be more spontaneous.

2.      Search for most appropriate solution

You should gather as much information as possible to find a solution to your vision problems. This may involve seeking the advice of friends, attending a clinic's seminar on LASIK Eye Surgery, responding to advertising or reviewing a website such as this one. We suggest you read about our patient process including the: Pre-Operative evaluation, Surgery and Post-Operative care.  This will help you determine what the most appropriate solution is to meet your specific needs.

If you choose to come to LASIK EYE CENTERS there are several steps to take before having laser eye surgery performed on your eyes.  Our doctor will perform a full eye exam and ask for your eye history to make sure that your prescription has been stable for at least one year.  During this examination, the doctor will determine whether you are an ideal candidate for laser eye surgery.

3.   Making the decision

Once you and the doctor are fully satisfied that you are a suitable candidate for LASIK Eye Surgery, a treatment date is then booked.

The scheduling of this date will typically require a (refundable) deposit in order to secure the appointment. At this point, you will be provided with comprehensive instructions and information regarding the actual procedure.

If for any medical reason, the surgeon decides not to pursue treatment after the Pre-Operative eye exam, we will promptly refund your deposit.

LASIK EYE CENTERS recommends that you attend an information seminar or sign up for a complimentary initial screening where you’ll be able to discuss your specific questions and find out if you are a suitable candidate for laser eye surgery.
